Community Reentry Services, Division of Rehabilitative Programs
Runs CDCR's pre-release community programs, including the Male and Female Community Reentry Programs, which let eligible people serve the last 60 days to 32 months of a state prison sentence in a community facility with housing, employment, education, and recovery support. Placement is requested through your correctional counselor during annual review.
Anti-Recidivism Coalition
Membership organization for people coming home from incarceration in California, with case management, trauma-informed counseling, housing, education, job training, and mentorship. Fill out the member application online, then attend a weekday orientation at the LA or Sacramento office.
Homeboy Industries
Los Angeles program for formerly gang-involved and previously incarcerated people offering free tattoo removal, GED and education classes, substance use referrals, limited legal help, workforce support, and court-mandated classes. Most services start by walking into the office during business hours.
GLIDE Daily Free Meals
Three free meals every day in San Francisco's Tenderloin with no eligibility requirements and no intake form. GLIDE also runs a Welcome Center, workforce development, a women's center, a transitional age youth program, and a legal clinic.
Delancey Street Foundation
Free two-year residential self-help community for people with substance use histories, prior convictions, or homelessness, where residents learn vocational, academic, and interpersonal skills. Applicants write from jail or show up at the building and wait on the bench for an interview.
Father Joe's Villages
San Diego's largest homeless services campus with a daily day center, public lunch, showers, mail, a health clinic, detox and MAT, family shelter intake, and employment help. Show up in person before 11am on a weekday to be scheduled for an assessment.

FDC's central office for in-prison programming and release planning. It also maintains the searchable Re-Entry Resource directory of community providers by county, city, judicial circuit or zip code, which people leaving state prison can use to find transition services.
Metropolitan Ministries
Tampa Bay nonprofit serving poor and homeless families and individuals in Hillsborough, Pasco and Pinellas with emergency family shelter, a food market, rent and utility help and job training. Its Metro BrigAIDe mobile outreach team helps with IDs, SNAP and Medicaid applications and housing assessments at more than 20 sites.
Sulzbacher Center
Jacksonville's largest provider of homeless services, with men's housing downtown on East Adams Street and women's and family housing at Sulzbacher Village in Springfield. Offers street outreach, daily meals, emergency and permanent housing, the Duval Family Health Center, veteran services and job placement.
Ready4Work
Jacksonville reentry program with a 4-to-6-week career development course, case management, life coaching, job placement, a JTA bus pass for class days, interview clothing and a year of follow-up support. Open to adults with non-violent, non-sexual charges in Duval, Clay, St. Johns or Nassau County.
Reentry Services - Operations Support Division
The state unit that plans release for people in Georgia prisons and follows them into the community. Pre-release staff inside GDC facilities identify needs, community coordinators in every judicial circuit link people to housing, jobs and mentors, and the Housing Resources unit runs the THOR and Reentry Partnership Housing beds.
Gateway Center
Downtown Atlanta's main front door for people without housing. It runs coordinated entry for the city, an engagement center with day services, and residential tracks for men including the Upward addiction-recovery program and a two-year veterans program.
The Shepherd's Inn

Offender Success Administration
MDOC's reentry arm. Through regional contracted agencies it helps parolees with housing, basic supplies, job placement and retention, and pairs some parolees with mentors who have completed the system themselves. Planning starts before release through In-Reach.

Urban Ministries of Durham
Durham's primary public shelter for single men and women, with nine family rooms, a cafe serving three free meals every day of the year, and a food pantry and clothing closet. Shelter placement goes through Entry Point Durham, which currently does intakes by phone only.
AHOPE Day Center
Asheville's low-barrier day center where showers, breakfast, mail, lockers, phone, and Wi-Fi are available each weekday morning, followed by case management for IDs, housing applications, and job documents. It is the starting point for Homeward Bound's permanent supportive housing, rapid rehousing, and veteran programs.

Charlotte nonprofit serving people with criminal records through LifeWorks!, a job-readiness and job-search program at the Goodwill Opportunity Campus, and the Center for Women, a 30-bed residential reentry program for incarcerated women. The state prison system's reentry office handles Certificates of Qualification for Employment and Housing, reentry coalitions, workforce programs, and regional reentry coordinators. Returning citizens can call the main line or the coordinator for their region.

Bureau of Community Corrections
Runs the state's community corrections centers and contracted facilities where people nearing release from state prison live while they transition home. Residents receive reentry services, workshops, peer support, counseling and referrals, with specialized tracks for veterans and people in recovery. Placement is arranged through the DOC before release, not by walk-in.
HOPE Reentry & Prevention
Case management, material assistance, housing and employment referrals and weekly support groups for people returning to Allegheny County after incarceration. The organization also runs chaplaincy and pre-release programming inside the Allegheny County Jail.
Unity Recovery Philadelphia
Free recovery community organization offering one-on-one peer support, mutual aid meetings, re-entry and forensic peer support for people leaving the justice system, pregnant and postpartum recovery support, employment help and naloxone at a seven-day-a-week drop-in center. No enrollment required for meetings and activities.
Allentown Rescue Mission Emergency Shelter
Overnight emergency shelter for men 18 and older in downtown Allentown, with meals, chapel and on-site medical care through the DeSales Clinic. Men may apply to the eight-week Transformation Program and then join the Clean Team workforce.
Rehabilitation and Reentry Division
TDCJ division responsible for reentry planning, evidence-based programs, second-chance hiring and veteran services for people leaving Texas prisons. It runs a Reentry Hotline and publishes a Reentry Resource Guide.
Haven for Hope
San Antonio homeless campus with a low-barrier South Campus shelter and a North Campus transformational program for Bexar County residents. New arrivals are handled on a walk-in basis at the Intake Building during weekday business hours.
First Step House
Residential and outpatient treatment plus recovery housing for adults in Salt Lake County, built around men with substance use disorders at moderate to high risk of criminal behavior; a record is not required. Also Utah's only transitional housing for homeless veterans of any gender. Most admissions come by referral, but self-referrals are taken; typical wait for a bed is 2–4 weeks.
Food & Care Coalition
Provo's day center and transitional housing provider for Utah County. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner 365 days a year with no ID or proof of need; weekday showers, laundry, hygiene kits, and clothing without an appointment; on-site medical and dental through partner clinics; case management toward housing and work.
Switchpoint Community Resource Center
Washington County's 24/7 emergency shelter for families and individuals, with a community kitchen, individualized case management, job support, mental health services, and 16 family housing units on the St. George campus. Headquarters at 214 N 1000 E Suite B.
Clean Slate Utah
Nonprofit helping Utahns clear criminal records. The Fresh Start Program screens records for free, explains whether a case qualifies for automatic Clean Slate expungement or needs a petition, and offers help with government fees for people who income-qualify. Utah Community Action
Salt Lake County's community action agency: case management and emergency rental assistance, HEAT utility bill help, workforce development, weatherization, landlord-tenant mediation, and free Head Start for children 0–5. The Road Home sends housing-crisis callers here.
