Illinois Secretary of State

State law waives the ID card fee for people released from IDOC, Juvenile Justice, a federal prison in Illinois, or a county jail; for homeless applicants with an affirmation from a qualified person; and for youth in DCFS care ages 16 to 21. Apply at any Driver Services facility.

Who it's for

Illinois residents; no fee on release from a correctional facility, for homeless applicants with a signed affirmation, for DCFS youth 16–21 with a caseworker or attorney affirmation, and for applicants 65 or older

How to get in

Visit a Driver Services facility; bring release paperwork or the homeless or DCFS affirmation to claim the fee waiver.
