Chafee / ETV Program (Transition Services and Support Division)

South Carolina Department of Social Services

Funds for current and former foster youth ages 14 to 21 covering school fees, tutoring, college costs, job training, driver's education and rental deposits. Requests go through a DSS case manager using Form 30198.

Who it's for

Youth in foster care ages 14 to 21; youth who aged out at 18 until their 21st birthday; youth who left care at 14 or older for reunification, or at 16 or older for adoption, guardianship or kinship care, until 21

How to get in

Pick services from the Pathways to Success booklet, discuss them with your DSS case manager, and have the case manager submit the Chafee Funding Request Form. Questions: IndependentLiving@dss.sc.gov. Processing can take up to two weeks.
