Houston shelter operating a Men's Development Center at 1811 Ruiz St. and a Women and Family Development Center at 2575 Reed Rd. Stays run from one night to 18 months; no ID is needed to get in, and long-term housing requires sobriety.
Who it's for
Must be able to care for yourself, not pose a danger to yourself or others, and follow mission guidelines. The men's center cannot take anyone wearing an ankle monitor or registered as a sex offender.

Walk in; beds are first come, first served. Men call 713-226-5414 or go to 1811 Ruiz St. Women and families go to 2575 Reed Rd.
What to bring
Just yourself. A valid ID and Social Security card help if you have them; one bag per person at the men's center.
