NC LINKS and Foster Care 18 to 21
North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services, Division of Social Services
North Carolina's Chafee independent living program (LINKS) for current and former foster youth ages 13 to 21, plus the Foster Care 18 to 21 extension that keeps young adults in care with financial support and case management while they work or go to school. Education and Training Vouchers up to $5,000 a year and the NC Reach scholarship are also run from here.
Who it's for
LINKS: youth 13-21 who are or were in foster care. Foster Care 18 to 21: in care on your 18th birthday, under 21, and in school, a job-barrier program, or working 80+ hours a month (or unable to due to a medical condition or disability)
How to get in
Call your county Department of Social Services and ask for the foster care supervisor or LINKS coordinator; ETV and NC Reach applications are online, questions to ETVandNCReachProgram@dhhs.nc.gov
