Montana Chafee Foster Care Independence Program

Montana DPHHS Child and Family Services Division

State program for current and former foster youth that teaches daily living and money skills, helps with GED, college, and job preparation, and builds a transitional living plan. Services are delivered through contracted Chafee providers in each region.

Who it's for

Age 14 or older and currently in foster care; or aged out of foster care at 18 and not yet 21; or left foster care after age 16 through court-ordered guardianship or adoption.

Contact the Child and Family Services Division at 406-268-3790 or find the contracted Chafee provider for your area from the provider list on the program page. Education and Training Vouchers are administered through Reach Higher Montana; Foster Youth to Independence housing vouchers are available in Missoula, Billings, and Butte.
