The person on the record, parents named on the record, legal heirs, court-appointed guardians, or an attorney or power of attorney with specific authority; records over 100 years old are unrestricted

How to get in

Order online or by phone at 866-443-9897 via VitalChek, use the lobby drop box, or schedule an appointment online. Standard record search fee is $34 (plus $14 online processing); seniors 65+ pay $14 for their own birth record.

What to bring

Completed application, copy of a valid photo ID, and payment by check or money order to State of Michigan (cash or card for in-person)
