Get an ID Card

Washington State Department of Licensing

Explains how to get a Washington state identification card: book an appointment at a driver licensing office, bring proof of identity, pay the fee and have a photo taken. A temporary ID is issued on the spot and the permanent card arrives by mail in 7–10 days.

How to get in

Make an appointment online, then complete the application at a driver licensing office. Call 360-902-3900 (TTY 711) if the permanent card has not arrived after 30 days.

What to bring

Proof of identity documents (see DOL's proof-of-identity list) and payment for the fee
