Chafee Independent Living and Education and Training Grant

Pennsylvania's program for youth who were in foster care at 14 or older: county independent living services cover diploma completion, job training and placement, budgeting and daily living skills, with aftercare for those who exited care between 14 and 23. The Chafee Education and Training Grant pays up to $5,000 per academic year toward college, and state schools must waive tuition for eligible former foster youth.
Who it's for
Independent living: in out-of-home placement on or after age 14. Education grant: in foster care at 16 or older (or adopted/placed in permanent legal custodianship after 16), under 26 at the start of the academic year

Contact your county children and youth agency for independent living services; for the education grant, file the FAFSA and mail the Chafee ETG application to PHEAA, P.O. Box 8157, Harrisburg, PA 17105-9923
