Your story could be the one someone needs tonight.

Record a short video on your phone, two minutes is plenty, about what got you through and what you'd tell someone starting now. Use your first name or a nickname. A person on our team watches every video before it goes up, and you can ask us to take it down anytime.

Who's sharing?
Your safety first. We only ever show a first name or nickname with survivor stories. Please don't say your city, workplace or school, or the name of anyone who hurt you, in the video. If you're in danger, call 911, or the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 1-800-799-7233 (text START to 88788).

  • What's one thing you wish someone had told you on day one?
  • Who or what helped the most? A person, a program, a habit?
  • Where are you now, and what are you proud of?
  • What would you say to someone going through it right now?

We use these only to tell you when your video is live or if we have a question. They're never shown.

Video release
  • I'm at least 18 years old, and this video is my own (or I have the right to share it).
  • I give RISE AID ("RISEaid") permission, at no cost, to show this video, its captions and the name I chose ("my first name") on riseaid.org and RISEaid's social media and materials, and to trim it, add captions, and pick a still image from it. RISEaid won't sell it or use it to advertise anyone else's product.
  • I understand nothing is published until RISEaid staff review it, and RISEaid may decide not to publish it.
  • I won't share anyone else's full name, address or private details without their permission, and the story is true to my experience.
  • I can ask RISEaid to take it down at any time by emailing hello@riseaid.org or calling 888-860-RISE, and RISEaid will remove it from its site and accounts within 7 days. Copies other people already saved or shared may be outside RISEaid's control.
