Transition Services, Rehabilitation and Reentry
State office that funds and oversees North Carolina's 20 Local Reentry Councils (26 counties) and runs transitional housing and other reentry programs for people coming home from prison. Councils help with housing, jobs, transportation, documents, and substance use referrals; contacts for each council are linked from this page.
Oak City Cares
Wake County's multi-service hub for people at risk of or experiencing homelessness, with care coordinators, weekday showers and laundry, weekend meals, on-site medical and behavioral health, and rides to other providers. It is a Coordinated Entry access site, so this is where to walk in for shelter and homelessness-prevention referrals.

Charlotte nonprofit serving people with criminal records through LifeWorks!, a job-readiness and job-search program at the Goodwill Opportunity Campus, and the Center for Women, a 30-bed residential reentry program for incarcerated women.
